Software & ERP

The best ERP list your buyer reads was written by a competitor.

We measured the Brazilian software niche. Almost all of page one for buying questions is a ranking article, and whoever published it sells software. The buyer reaches a decision reading a comparison assembled by someone who wants to sell to them.

Page one is a wall of rankings

We measured the page-one positions for this niche’s real buying questions. Nineteen distinct domains across twenty positions, and the overwhelming majority is a "the 12 best management systems" article on a vendor’s blog.

No domain repeats across more than one question except a forum. Nobody has consolidated the category, and the AI answer is assembled from rankings written by vendors who put themselves on the list. When the assistant summarizes, it inherits that choice.

Here everyone has already done the technical homework

We tested the sites of the five largest business-software companies in the country. All five passed both basic automated-reading tests. No technical advantage was left for anyone. What is left is content.

It makes sense: this is a market built by people who build software. The site is in order, the data is structured, everything is readable. But readability does not put anyone inside the "best of" list. Publishing does.

It is the niche where the fight is most clearly settled in text. Whoever wrote the category’s comparison won the category, and whoever wrote it had something to sell at the end of it.

What this means in practice

The comparison exists with or without you

ERP buyers compare before they talk to a rep. If you are not in the comparison they read, you are not on the shortlist, and the shortlist was assembled by someone who would rather you were not.

Forums and directories shape the answer too

A forum was the only domain to appear on more than one question, and a software directory appeared on another. Those are pages where your product entry was filled in by third parties and almost never reviewed by you.

Questions from people who sell software

Our funnel is outbound and referrals. Does this change anything?
It changes the middle. A referred lead looks your name up before the meeting, and increasingly asks an assistant instead of opening ten tabs. What they read then decides whether the meeting starts with trust or with an objection, and today they read a competitor’s ranking.
We already blog and do SEO. Is this not the same thing?
It is the foundation, but not the same thing. Ranking earns the click; being cited removes the need for one. The question is whether your content is written to survive being summarized: verifiable claims, data of your own, and the product name tied to the problem it solves.
We are vertical, one sector only. Is it worth it?
More so. The measurement shows a market with no owner: nineteen distinct domains across twenty positions. A fragmented category is where the specialist wins, because the specific question your sector asks has nobody defending it.
What if the AI describes our product wrong?
It happens, and that is exactly what the check shows. The assistant combines what it finds: an old post, a stale directory entry, a forum comment. Fixing it is not erasing the internet. It is publishing the right version in places it reads, until the right version is the easiest one to find.
