Auto parts & service
Four questions about tyres returned nineteen different sites. This niche has no owner.
We measured the Brazilian automotive sector and found the most fragmented market of everything we mapped. Almost no player repeats from one question to the next, meaning page one is open to whoever gets there first with the right answer.
The size and the state of the niche
Measured by Citorial in
A market with no consolidation at all
We measured the page-one positions for this niche’s real buying questions. Twenty positions, nineteen distinct domains. Exactly one appeared twice. No other niche we measured was this dispersed.

Look at the workshop theme on its own. It returned four directories and one workshop, the trade lost its own question to pages that merely talk about it. On the parts and tyre themes the opposite happens: they are shops, but each appears exactly once. Nobody consolidated anything.
And technical preparation is weak across the sector
We tested the sites of five of the largest auto parts and service companies in the country. Only one passed both basic automated-reading tests. Two did not return their site content to an automated reader at all.
High fragmentation and low preparation, in the same measurement. It is the most open combination we found: there is no consolidated leader to unseat, and the technical barrier between appearing and not appearing is low.
The other side is worth saying: a market with no owner is a market with no habit. Whoever enters has to build the answer from scratch, because there is no established reference to be compared against.
What this means in practice
The seat is open. Nobody has taken it
When nineteen domains split twenty positions, none has established authority in the category. That is the scenario where an organized shop or workshop can become the reference for a specific question in a short time.
Workshops lost their own question to directories
Someone asking for the best mechanic gets lists written by service platforms, on criteria the workshop neither knows nor controls. That is the list AI repeats when the same thing is asked of it.

Questions from parts sellers and workshops
- My workshop is local; customers come by word of mouth.
- Word of mouth still works, and the measurement does not contradict that, it contradicts the idea that it is enough. Someone looking for a workshop without a referral gets a list assembled by a directory. Being well described is what decides whether you are on that list or off it.
- I sell parts through a marketplace app. Do I need more?
- The marketplace serves buyers who already know the part number. The measurement captured the other customer: the one still asking where to buy. On that question, what appears are shops with their own sites, each on its own query.
- If nobody dominates the niche, why move now?
- Precisely because of that. A fragmented category is cheap to contest; a consolidated one is expensive. The cost of appearing rises once somebody is the default answer, and today, in this sector, nobody is.
- I carry parts for many makes. How is that described?
- That is exactly the information that tends to be missing. Which lines you cover, which makes, whether you deliver, whether you install, in what region. Simple questions almost no site in the sector answers in plain text, and it is what AI needs to read to name you on a specific query.
